Do you just have this full-time MBA or do you have other
variations of the MBA, such as a dual degree or more specialized programs?
The Kelley School of Business offers dual degree and specialized programs.
Our dual degree programs include:
The Indiana University School of Law–Bloomington and the
Kelley School of Business are among the very few law and business schools in
the United States to offer joint JD/MBA degrees in a program that can be
completed in three instead of the usual four years. It is a demanding
program for only the most highly qualified and motivated students. For the
right person, the three-year JD/MBA offers a unique opportunity to gain two
valuable degrees from one of the nation’s most prestigious institutions
while being absent from the working world for only three years. The
three-year JD/MBA Program is primarily geared to individuals with
significant work experience who are seeking careers in business where an
understanding of legal issues would be beneficial.
The Kelley School of Business offers two certificate programs:
-
Certificate of Global Business Achievement.
The course work in the Kelley MBA Program is designed to allow all
students to achieve a high level of understanding about the
international dimensions of business. The Certificate of Global Business
Achievement recognizes students who have gone beyond the minimum
requirement and have completed an intensive program in global business
during their time as an MBA student.
-
Social Entrepreneurship Certificate. This
certificate program recognizes that the differentiation between
for-profit, nonprofit, and public management have become less distinct.
In the Social Entrepreneurship Certificate program, MBA students are
able to enroll in courses in public and nonprofit management at the
Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, recently
ranked #2 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, complete an
integrative course on social entrepreneurship, and obtain an internship
that involves hands-on work involving issues at the boundaries of all
three sectors.
What should students expect from the Leadership Development Institute?
The Kelley School of Business recognizes leadership as a key
ingredient of career advancement. Effectiveness in business requires both
intellect and the ability to influence, motivate, and enable others to
contribute toward organizational success. Over the past ten years, the
Kelley MBA Program has developed and refined a unique program that provides
Kelley students with the opportunity to hone their communication skills for
the managerial environment.
As a fundamental component of our innovative curriculum, the
Leadership Development Institute (LDI) provides incoming Kelley students
with a baseline measurement on a range of dimensions essential for
leadership effectiveness. As a first-year student, an intensive assessment
includes role playing exercises that involve negotiation, providing
feedback, and oral presentation.
The assessment concludes with an in-depth, face-to-face
feedback session that aids in the creation of a personalized leadership
development plan aimed to customize each student's leadership development
during his or her two years at Kelley. The LDI training culminates with a
classroom component for second-year students, which provides for a host of
creative tasks and experiences.
This soft-skill refinement paired with rigorous academics is
recognized by corporate recruiters as a key factor that sets Kelley students
apart from their peers.
What are some of the attractions of going to school in Bloomington as opposed to a city like New York, Chicago or Boston?
An intimate environment, located in the heart of a Big-10
college town, the Kelley School of Business provides students with a respite
from big-city life. A town like Bloomington is ideal for a complete
immersion experience in a full-time MBA program.
Students' time on-campus is spent in our recently
constructed, $33 million, 200,000-square-foot Godfrey Graduate and Executive
Education Center—featuring the latest classroom technology, wired and
wireless access throughout, and student lounges. Off-campus, students take
advantage of the reasonable cost of living that Bloomington has to offer;
spacious one-bedroom apartments start around $600/mo and a bottle of beer
will cost you just $1.75 at the local watering hole.
Need a study break? You’ll find coffeehouses, open-air
markets, museums, international grocery stores, bookstores, and more than 40
ethnic restaurants offering cuisines from around the world such as Thai,
Moroccan, Chinese, Indian, Greek, and Italian. Music, arts, sports, theatre,
games, get-togethers—there’s always something fun to do here. No wonder
USA Today named IU one of the top 10 places for campus culture!
Bloomington is one of the most exciting communities you’ll
encounter in the United States, but it’s also a great place to relax. Trees
line our streets, parks are all over the city, and we’re surrounded by
lakes, state and national parks, and miles of trails. IU’s campus is a lush,
landscaped masterpiece all its own, named one of the nation’s five most
beautiful campuses in the book The Campus as a Work of Art. It’s nice to
know that when you want to get away from it all, you can just take a walk
down the street.
What's more, Kelley provides not only a fantastic learning environment but
also top corporate recruiters! Kelley MBA students are highly sought after.
Each recruiting season, recruiters from national and international
corporations such as Bank of America, Deloitte Consulting, Kraft Foods,
PepsiCo., and FedEx flood the
Kelley School of
Business Graduate Career Services office in Bloomington. Each summer for
internships and full-time alike, Kelley MBA students leave Bloomington and
travel to NYC, San Francisco, Chicago, Cincinnati, Portland, and more to
leave their mark.
Ultimately, this is an environment where 98% of your
classmates and faculty live within a 5 mile radius of campus, facilitating
easy communication, collaboration, and relationships that are going to be
life-long.
