Tuck Admissions Director Kristine Laca Steps Down
January 2005
Text from the email sent by
Kristine to current Tuck students.
Hi all:
I just wanted to let you know that I will be stepping
down as director of admissions at Tuck at the end of this
school year. It has given me great pleasure to know that I
played a part in bringing you all to Tuck and also seeing the
positive role you have played in this community. I
have sincerely enjoyed getting to know you all.
Ever since I came to Tuck and realized how much
educational institutions can benefit from a more strategic
perspective in areas such as branding, marketing, yielding and
data-driven process improvements, I have been thinking
about developing a consulting practice to provide this type
of assistance and support to schools. This is the type of
strategic work I spent ten years doing at Nike before
I joined Tuck and is one of the facets of my job at Tuck
that I have loved the most. Tuck has asked me to stay for
at least a year after this current admissions cycle to
work on key strategic initiatives for the dean while I explore
this consulting idea. Part of me is also trying to decide
if there might be some interesting South American angle
to all this as Hernan and I have just bought property on the
coast of Uruguay and I would love to have some legitimate
excuse to spend more time there... (Hernan, Alexandra and
Luna our new dog - are there right now basking in the
summer sun until March.)
In addition to helping Tuck on strategic projects, I
have agreed to stay in the admissions director role beyond
this summer if we have not been able to find my replacement
by then. So, there really won't be any changes as it
relates to enrolling the Class of 2007. I will still be
overseeing the admissions committee and managing the overall
class. And MOST IMPORTANTLY to me, I will be there to watch
you all graduate in June!
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you personally about
these changes and I apologize that this is in the form of an
e-mail. Please feel free to stop by anytime if you have
any specific questions.
